Portraits

These are painted stones portraying a real or imaginary person, perfectly recognisable or similar to the original, but …placed in a different era or ethnicity.
I take this person in another era capturing what she/he has in her/his eyes, the mirror of the soul, I am told.
I portray what the immortal part of the person suggests to me.
A child with a placid look becomes a small Buddhist monk, a teenager with a proud look becomes a Samurai.
A girl with dark and severe eyes, becomes a squaw, a mature woman with penetrating eyes becomes a Peruvian curandera.
